• MLK Jr. Way street name to extend to Renton, Kent from Seattle (kentreporter.com) — Drivers in Renton will soon see new Martin Luther King Jr. Way memorial signs added along State Route 900, after state transportation commissioners unanimously approved extending the honorary street name from Seattle through Renton into Kent. No addresses will change, but the added markers aim to honor Dr. King’s legacy and highlight civil rights values across these South King County communities starting as early as next year.
   

• Kent Police officer reportedly fired 5 shots at suspect in apartment (kentreporter.com) — Renton Police are leading an independent investigation after a Kent officer reportedly fired five shots at a man wanted for sexual assault, none of which hit anyone. The standoff at a SE 208th Street apartment complex ended with the suspect arrested after a K-9 bite and a small fire that triggered sprinklers. Investigators from Renton and other Valley agencies will issue weekly updates until the case is reviewed.
   

• Sounders sign midfielder Hassani Dotson from Federal Way (bellinghamherald.com) — Renton-based Seattle Sounders operations announced that Federal Way native Hassani Dotson has signed a three-year deal, adding a versatile, two-way midfielder returning to the Pacific Northwest. The 28-year-old ex-Minnesota United standout is expected to bolster the Sounders’ midfield starting in 2026, while two current players, Nouhou and Georgi Minoungou, head to the African Cup of Nations later this month.
