• Person shot at Christmas party (rentonreporter.com) — Recent Renton police and fire calls included a man shot in the arm at a Hardie Avenue Christmas party, where Renton Fire treated and hospitalized him with minor injuries. Officers also handled DUI arrests, drug paraphernalia cases, an armed ATM robbery, domestic assaults, and a report of a gun fired inside a home, with several investigations still ongoing. 
• Renton man charged with murder for Seattle hookah lounge shooting (seattletimes.com) — A man with a last known address in Renton has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a December shooting at a Seattle hookah lounge, after Renton police first arrested him in a separate DUI crash. Investigators say scooter records, surveillance video, and DNA evidence linked him to the shooting, and prosecutors are seeking $3 million bail while the lounge has since permanently closed.
• Alaska Airlines pilot says Boeing blamed him for door plug blowout (adn.com) — Renton-based Boeing mechanics are cited by federal investigators for failing to install four critical bolts on a 737 Max panel that later blew out midflight, prompting a new lawsuit from the Alaska Airlines pilot. The pilot, who safely landed the plane, now seeks $10 million, alleging Boeing initially tried to shift blame onto the flight crew instead of acknowledging manufacturing and maintenance failures.
