PEMCO Replaces Stolen Bigfoot Banner

Banner replaced two days after theft. Suspect is still at large.

. The banner was stolen mid-morning on Tuesday, Nov. 15 and museum staff filed a police report.

Exhibit banners are an important form of publicity for the museum’s changing exhibits. In her outrage Museum Collection Manager Sarah Samson posted on Twitter, “WHO STEALS A BANNER FROM A MUSEUM??? @rentonhistory just got robbed.” PEMCO Marketing Research Analyst Marjorie Hastings read about the banner theft through Twitter and Facebook, and made an immediate offer on behalf of PEMCO to cover the cost of a new banner, about $200.

dovetails nicely with one of PEMCO’s Northwest Profiles. No. 13 is Wally, who is dressed in camouflage, carrying binoculars, and is “Desperately Seeking Sasquatch.” The Museum also received numerous other offers of assistance; funds from those donors will assist with the digitization of the Museum’s audiotaped oral histories and films or will be set aside for the creation of banners for future exhibits.
