King County SWAT Kills Man In Shooting Near Interstate 5

The sheriff said SWAT deputies fatally shot a suspect while serving a warrant in Federal Way Wednesday morning.

FEDERAL WAY, WA — Deputies working on a King County Sheriff's Office SWAT team shot and killed a person Wednesday morning near Interstate 5 in Federal Way.

The response prompted a lengthy closure of nearby off-ramps Wednesday. Washington State Patrol confirmed ramp closures for north and southbound lanes of the interstate at South 317th Street for "police activity" just before 11 a.m.

Details on the shooting were not immediately available from the sheriff's office, and a spokesperson did not return calls for information. The Federal Way Police Department said drivers should expect limited access in the area of the closure, around the HOV ramp, citing an "officer involved shooting involving King County Sheriff's personnel."
