Renton Hosts Drug Take Back, Shred-A-Thon And Food Drive Saturday

Renton Memorial Stadium is a one-stop-shop Saturday morning, offering document shredding and drug disposal while hosting a food drive.

The police department has a trio of events planned for Saturday morning at Renton Memorial Stadium, including a shred-a-thon, prescription drug disposal and a food drive.

Here's how to attend:

  • Date: Saturday, April 24
  • Time: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Location: Renton Memorial Stadium (405 Logan Avenue South)

Here's what will be accepted via drive-thru:

Document shredding

  • Up to five boxes ("banker box" size) or personal documents in a bag.
  • No three-ring binders, notebooks, binder clips, CDs, plastic or electronics.

Prescription drugs

  • Prescriptions (controlled and non-controlled substances) and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals.
  • Pills and capsules can be removed from containers and placed in a bag.
  • Liquid drugs must be in original containers with a tightly sealed cap.
  • Residents are encouraged to remove identifying personal information from original containers.
  • The event cannot accept IV solutions, injectables, inhalers, syringes, chemotherapy medications, medical waste or vaping equipment that does not have removable batteries.

Food drive

  • Canned food, dry goods and monetary donations will be accepted, benefitting the Renton Salvation Army Food Bank.

Saturday's event will run according to COVID-19 precautions, and visitors must wear a mask and remain in their vehicle. Documents, drugs and food donations should be placed in the trunk or truck bed before arrival. Anyone who feels ill is asked to stay home.
