A 53-year-old Renton Man died in a paragliding accident Sunday night in the High Valley area, just northeast of the Renton Highlands.

The accident occurred around 7 p.m. in the 12300 block of 202 Place Southeast, in Issaquah. Witness reports describe the "paraglider gliding on what appeared to be a thermal current," according to a statement from the King County Sheriff's Office.

"Suddenly the wing of the paraglider started twisting and spinning out of control and then collapsed about 40 to 50 feet above the ground before crashing in a pasture," according to officials.

Both witnesses and first responders attempted CPR, without success. The man died at the scene, and his name has not yet been released.
