Renton Patch: Election News Update

Prince, Jones move on in Renton City Council general election; Joos, Heuschel advance in race for Public Hospital District No. 1

Tuesday's primary election results were updated at 4:30 today, Wednesday, Aug. 17. In addition to the , Renton residents also narrowed the fields in races for the Renton City Council and Public Hospital District No. 1.

Renton's only race with a primary included three candidates vying for an open seat vacated by longtime Council member , owner of in the Renton Highlands.

Newcomer , a longtime Renton resident and veteran of the US Marine Corps, received the least amount of votes in the primary, and will therefore not advance to the general election. Read his concession letter . , who currently chairs the City's Planning Commission, received the greatest number of votes. , a Project Manager for The Boeing Company and member of the Renton Human Services Advisory Committee, received the second-most votes.

In the race for Public Hospital District No. 1 Paul Joos, an eye surgeon and graduate of Renton High School (class of '64), netted the highest percentage of votes followed by Renton School District Superintendent Mary Alice Heuschel. Jim Grossnickle, a contract engineer with The Boeing Applied Physics Laboratory, received the least number of votes and will not move on to the general election.
