Renton Police SUV Burns In Apparent Electrical Fire
An officer's patrol SUV caught fire Friday morning, and the police department released images and videos of the blaze.

RENTON, WA — Renton firefighters rushed to extinguish the flames Friday morning as a fire engulfed a police SUV. According to the Renton Police Department, the fire broke out just after 10 a.m. near Powell Avenue Southwest and Southwest 7th Street.
Police said the officer made it to safety without injuries. A preliminary investigation revealed the fire started at the back of the vehicle, and officials believe was the result of an electrical issue.
"We appreciate the inquiries we received about the fire & if our officer was ok," Renton police wrote on social media Friday. "Our department, and [officer] Hynes, appreciate your concerns and we'll get her another car shortly and get her back on the road!"

The police department shared a video on Facebook showing flames and smoke pouring from the SUV, along with several photos of extensive damage to the vehicle.
