Renton Superintendent Named Regional ‘Key Influencer’

Renton Schools Superintendent Dr. Mary Alice Heuschel has been identified by the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels as one of the region’s influential leaders and selected for a ride-along in an F/A-18 Hornet during practice flights leading up to this year’s Seafair weekend.

The Blue Angels give three back-seat flights in the number 7 jet at each show for select people. Two riders are selected from the program’s Key Influencer program, the other is a credentialed media representative. The Key Influencer, who must be nominated by a commanding officer of a Navy or Marine Corps recruiting district, is identified as a leader who has a significant and positive impact on his/her community.

Renton Schools has experienced success including graduation rates at 93 percent for the past two consecutive years. Dr. Heuschel is and was one of only four school leaders in the U.S. considered as
