Renton Weekly Wrap-Up, Aug. 7-14

Patch will meet with the Mayor, Chief of Police, City Attorney and City Administrator on Monday — If you had the opportunity, what would you ask them in regards to the City's recent Cyberstalking investigation?

Following the August 4 story, Renton Police Department Struggles With Morale, Personnel Issues, Patch continued to follow the City's investigation as Renton's Police Chief Kevin Milosevich addressed the media on the steps of , and the City released all nine cartoons, some of which can be seen here.

Last Monday, Patch spoke with First Amendment scholars at the University of Washington and Seattle University who said the cartoon parodies being investigated by police are likely — not cyberstalking (the City maintains that their investigation does not have anything to do with violating first amendment rights, and that it is committed to protecting free speech and the rights of any individual to express their opinions).

On Thursday, City Administrator Jay Covington and City Attorney Larry Warren held another press conference to announce they City's plans to , a move that was made to uncover the identity of the cartoon parody artist.

Two weeks ago a tragic accident resulted in the death of James "Big Jim" Reynolds, a longtime resident of Cedar River Court Apartments who was often seen around town on his bright red scooter.  were held for Reynolds on August 9.

In local sports news, the Seahawks have been diligently practicing at the over the last few weeks, and it appears that the team's hard work is paying off.
