Sergeant Chuck Marsalisi To Retire Early From Renton Police Department
Former deputy chief, demoted to sergeant for his role in the making of a cartoon parody of the department has agreed to retire early.

City Communications Director Preeti Shridhar said scheduled for Nov. 1 at Fire Station 13 and Nov. 2 at Renton City Hall; however, those hearings have been cancelled in the wake of the settlement, Shridhar said.

According to the settlement between The City and Marsalisi, reached last Friday, the demoted deputy Chief would retire early from the Renton Police Department on Feb. 29, 2012.
“He was eligible to retire in February, so he selected that date,” Shridhar said, noting that the settlement will become official on Nov. 4, one week after it was signed.

Shridhar said she did not know if Marsalisi had previously scheduled a retirement date.
Marsalisi will not be in the office from now until his February retirement date, she said
“He will use accrued leave from now until then,” she said.
Three other department members were disciplined for their involvement in the cartoons, including Officer Bill Judd, who was demoted from the rank of sergeant; Sergeant Steve Ritchie, who received a letter of reprimand; and Tom Smith, who received a verbal letter of reprimand.
Judd is currently appealing the City's decision to deny his greaivance.
