Smoke In Puget Sound Worse Today, 'Unhealthy' For Everyone

The air quality across Puget Sound is now rated "unhealthy" for all people.

RENTON, WA - If Tuesday wasn't smoky enough, Wednesday will be even smokier. The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency (PSCAA) has downgraded air quality levels compared to Tuesday, rating the air as "unhealthy" for everyone.

Tuesday's air was bad, but PSCAA rated it "unhealthy" for only sensitive groups, like pregnant women, children, and the elderly. Today, the air is unhealthy for any level of activity for even healthy adults.

And relief from the wildfire smoke seeping in from British Columbia won't be here soon.

According to the National Weather Service, the air will remain poor throughout Wednesday. We may not see clearing until Thursday. The air was so poor Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued a special weather statement about smoke.

If you're looking for relief, head to the airport. According to the Washington Smoke Blog, the closest place to Puget Sound with clean air is Butte, Mont.
