Soroptimists Ready Incoming Nelsen Students For School Year

Seminar at Valley Medical Center helps incoming Nelsen Middle School sixth graders to understand the importance of nutrition, friendship and healthy living.

Earlier this month, presented a one-day seminar for sixth-grade girls entering . 

The event, held at , provided the teens with variety of workshops aimed at discussing how to meet new friends, understand and take ownership of their personal strengths, and offered strategies for dealing with peer pressure. 

The soon-to-be middle schoolers shared a healthy lunch and learned about the importance of a healthy diet from a nutritionist from the hospital staff, who presented the new food plate and options for healthy choices for school lunches.

After lunch, girls got some fashion tips on the latest styles and a 'how-to' on accessorizing their wardrobes, followed by a Zumba class. Each girl left with a T-shirt with the printed message "Think positive to be a star."
