SR 167 Flyover Opening In Renton May Be Delayed
A ribbon cutting ceremony will go forward on Feb. 19 for the new HOV ramp connecting SR 167 to I-405.

RENTON, WA - A major upgrade for commuters who use SR 167 and I-405 that was set to open today might be delayed until Wednesday. The new flyover in Renton will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, but road striping has not been completed due to weather, according to reports.
The new flyover will transfer HOV drivers from SR 167 to I-405 in both south and northbound directions between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily. All drivers can use the flyover outside those hours.
KOMO reported Tuesday morning that weather had delayed the opening. The flyover should open by Thursday, according to WSDOT.

The flyover is part of a larger project to improve traffic flow in the corridor between Puyallup and Bellevue. WSDOT will also be adding additional lanes to I-405 between Renton and Bellevue.
WSDOT had said that the flyover opening might be delayed beyond the Feb. 19 grand opening date. The project broke ground in 2016, and is actually ahead of schedule. The original completion date was set for sometime this spring.
