SWAT Operation At Renton Spa Leads To Arrest

Police said a woman called 911 and said she was being sexually exploited and held against her will at a Renton spa.

RENTON, WA — Renton police and the Valley SWAT team arrested a woman Wednesday morning after serving a search warrant at a Renton massage parlor. According to the Renton Police Department, the investigation began after a woman called 911 and told them she was sexually exploited and held against her will after accepting what she thought was a legitimate job offer at "Q Spa."

The victim told investigators that she was held captive at the business and expected to perform sexual services for clients, but she was able to escape the business and call for help. Law enforcement served a search warrant at the NE 4th St. business shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday and took a 39-year-old woman into custody. Police said the suspect was booked into jail on suspicion of attempted promoting prostitution and unlawful imprisonment.

Police said they were grateful the case was resolved without injury and thanked the victim for reporting what happened to her. Detectives ask anyone with additional information that could help the case to e-mail investigators.
