UPDATE: Cyclist Struck On Logan Dies

The cyclist, identified as a 70-year-old Federal Way man, died earlier Friday morning from injuries sustained in a collision with an SUV. He was not wearing a helmet.

The died this morning at 12:28 a.m.

He has been tentatively identified as a 70-year-old man with a last-known address in Federal Way, according to a statement from the Renton Police Department.  

Investigators determined that the cyclist was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of Logan Avenue North, westbound in the middle of the block, across from the Renton Stadium parking lot, when he was struck by a northbound SUV. The SUV was likely traveling at about the speed limit for the road and conditions.

The victim had a bike helmet strapped to his bike, but for unknown reasons, he was not wearing it at the time of collision, according to the department. The SUV driver was interviewed at the scene, and no arrests have been made.  

Any witnesses to this collision who have not already spoken with investigators are asked to call the Renton Police Department at (425) 430-7500, reference case 11-7804 (a previous release specified 11-7803; correction due to clerical issues).
