Weekend Renton Recycling Event Collects Metal, Styrofoam
A spring recycling event at Renton Technical College on Saturday will accept scrap metal, appliances and styrofoam. Here's what to know.
RENTON, WA — Renton neighbors will have an opportunity Saturday to offload some tricky items during a spring recycling event scheduled at Renton Technical College. The Saturday event will accept scrap metal, certain large appliances and styrofoam, including packing peanuts and clean blocks.
Here are a few things to bring:
- Car parts, lawn chairs, water heaters, lawnmowers, bikes
- Remove wheels and nonmetal parts, along with oil or other fluids
- Iron and steel
- Styrofoam
- Including packing peanuts and clean blocks with the #6 or "EPS" recycling stamp
- No televisions, computers, refrigerators, dishwashers or microwaves can be accepted at this event

- Where: Renton Technical College's north parking lot
- NE 6th Place and Monroe Avenue NE
- When: Saturday, May 15
- 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
The city plans to host two more seasonal events in the months ahead, including mattress, cardboard and tire recycling on June 12. Another styrofoam event is scheduled for September. Residents can find a list of 2021 recycling events on the city of Renton website.
