Washington's big bet on cleaner jet fuel takes off (king5.com) — Washington leaders just launched a major push to make this state, including the Port of Seattle, a hub for cleaner jet fuel, backed by $20 million in public and private money. A new nonprofit accelerator and a planned SkyNRG fuel plant in Walla Walla County aim to cut aviation emissions, even as officials face scrutiny for past overstatements of climate benefits.

3. Visit from South Carolina family with measles leads to alert in WA (seattletimes.com) — Public health officials in Seattle and King County are warning residents about possible measles exposure tied to a visiting South Carolina family who passed through Sea-Tac Airport and multiple Snohomish County locations while contagious. Anyone unsure of their measles vaccination status who visited the listed sites and times should check their MMR records, monitor for fever or rash through Jan. 22, and call a provider before seeking in-person care.
   

4. Citizenship interviews canceled in Seattle amid Trump crackdown (seattletimes.com) — Seattle immigrants with green cards are seeing their citizenship interviews and oath ceremonies abruptly canceled, with local nonprofits reporting dozens of affected clients despite many not being from travel-ban countries. City-funded organizations and Seattle’s Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs say the unexplained cancellations are creating fear, backlogs, and costly delays for residents who have spent years preparing to become U.S. citizens.
