  1. The Parkersburg Utility Board met a day early, on Jun. 19 to discuss important matters, including payments for ongoing projects and a bond counsel agreement for the upcoming installation of a C8 filtration system. The board unanimously approved a letter of engagement with attorney John Stump, who will act as bond counsel for the $12.6 million project. The filtration system aims to remove C8, a contaminant found in Parkersburg's water, and the project is being funded through a loan from the West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council. 2. The WVU Medicine Center for Nursing Excellence will launch the Aspiring Nurse Program, providing up to $25,000 in financial support to nursing students in South Charleston and Parkersburg. Students will commit to a three-year work agreement with WVU Medicine hospitals after graduation. The program aims to alleviate financial stress and enhance the pipeline of nurses in West Virginia.
