  1. The Wood County Board of Education is considering appointing LeeAnn Cumpston as the new principal of Williamstown Elementary School, following the resignation of Heather Mannix Bretthauer. The appointment will be discussed during the board meeting, which is open to the public and will be streamed online. Other items on the agenda include recognizing the achievements of the Williamstown High School Girls Track Team and receiving updates on finances, facilities, and educational programs.   2. Michelle Sampson, a Blennerhassett FFA Member and student at Parkersburg South High School, won first place in the Social Science Division of the West Virginia FFA Agriscience Fair. Her research project titled "Agriculture State of Mind" focused on assessing the mental health of individuals in the agriculture industry and aimed to raise awareness about mental health challenges in the agricultural community. As a result of her success, Sampson will have the opportunity to compete in the National Agriscience Fair, where she will present her research and interact with universities and sponsors during the National FFA Convention in November.   3. If you have a teen interested in the medical field, you can sign up for the Teen Medical Explorers program happening from Jul. 10-13. This program offers hands-on experience in patient care and learning from professionals, covering topics like vital signs, patient care, safety measures, and even simulations of operating rooms or obstetrics.
