Heavy Traffic On I-43, Route 42 For Ryder Cup
The general public should avoid getting on Interstate 43 and Wisconsin state Route 42 while Ryder Cup traffic pours into Sheboygan County.

WISCONISN — Heavy traffic is expected on Interstate 43 and Wisconsin state Route 42 this weekend as patrons for the Ryder Cup pour into Sheboygan County.
Delays and backups are expected on I-43 and Route 42 from Friday to Sunday on ingress routes to Whistling Straights in Kohler, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation said.
Some 40,000 to 50,000 people were expected to travel along I-43 from the north and south of Sheboygan County to get to the Ryder Cup event, the department said. People who aren't going to the golf event were encouraged to seek other routes.

"[Department of Transportation] and [Wisconsin State Patrol] encourage general public drivers to not use the I-43 and WIS 42 during morning hours and evening hours the next three days in Sheboygan County," the department said. Drivers should expect delays and potential backups on both routes.

Ryder Cup patrons were expected to arrive in town as early as 4 a.m. Friday.

The Ryder Cup started in 1927 and features 24 of the best men's golfers from Europe and the United States, the event website said.
