Creating affordable housing by banning large real estate investors (spectrumnews1.com) — Housing advocates in Green Bay say a proposed federal ban on large investors buying single-family homes could ease pressure on local buyers, as prices in the Green Bay area have jumped about 50% in three years. Local experts describe how investor activity and limited supply are squeezing families trying to achieve homeownership.
   

2. Brown County Board aims to begin recording, publishing all public meetings (fox11online.com) — Brown County leaders are moving toward recording and posting all county public meetings online, similar to how Green Bay’s Common Council and Green Bay Area Public Schools already operate. After a test run this month, supervisors could vote to approve a $2,500‑a‑year contract with Open Meetings, aiming to launch accessible, captioned videos of county meetings as soon as April.
   

3. Greyhound launches service connecting Minneapolis to Chicago through Wisconsin (kstp.com) — Green Bay residents now have a new daily Greyhound connection linking the city with Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago and several rural Wisconsin communities. Buses stop at 1121 Radisson St. once per day in each direction, seven days a week, with tickets already available online.

Doctors see increase in winter sports injuries among children (wbay.com) — Doctors in Green Bay are warning parents about a rise in winter sports injuries among children and stressing that many could be prevented. A UW Health Kids ER physician and staff at Play It Again Sports in Green Bay urge families to prioritize proper helmet fit, warm layers, and watching for cold exposure so outdoor fun doesn’t end with an ER visit.
   

5. Green Bay area high school sports results for Thursday, Jan. 8 (greenbaypressgazette.com) — High school athletes from around the greater Green Bay area turned in big performances Thursday night, with several basketball teams mounting major second-half surges and multiple wrestling squads dominating by pins and technical falls. From Oconto Falls’ huge comeback win to Bonduel staying unbeaten and several local wrestlers winning by forfeit or fall, the roundup highlights how area teams are starting 2026 strong.
