Local volunteers raising funds to purchase historic biplane, the 4th in a fleet of Stearmans used to honor senior military veterans

On Tues., June 19, 2018, Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation (AADF) is hosting the second annual Spirit of Wisconsin golf outing at SentryWorld Golf Club, 601 N. Michigan Ave., Stevens Point, Wis. The public is invited to participate; the four-person scramble registration fee is $150 per golfer and the tournament is limited to 30 foursomes. Proceeds will be directed toward the fund-raising goal of $125,000 for the Spirit of Wisconsin, the fourth biplane in a fleet of Stearmans used by AADF to honor senior veterans in all branches of the U.S. military.
“The Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation mission is giving back to those who have given,” said Darryl Fisher, president and founder of AADF. “With the Spirit of Wisconsin based in Stevens Point, we can better serve and honor the senior veterans living in the Midwest.”
The AADF golf tournament registration starts at 11:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. The registration fee includes all golf fees for the 18-hole course including a golf cart, complimentary range balls, hole flag events and raffle prizes, lunch and three drink tickets. A dinner for golfers and tournament volunteers starts at 6:30 p.m.

Stevens Point resident and tournament chairperson, Dave Lamken, first experienced the magic of AADF when his dad, a World War II vet, was honored with a Dream Flight in a Boeing Stearman biplane in Stevens Point in 2015.

“The big smile, tears of happiness and overall joy my father displayed when he landed were things I will remember forever,” Lamken explained. This experience inspired him to spearhead fund-raising efforts to purchase the Spirit of Wisconsin. The biplane will be based at Stevens Municipal Airport, 4501 State Highway 66, and serve military veterans living in America’s heartland.

Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation is a Carson City, Nevada-based, nonprofit organization established in 2011. It is dedicated to honoring senior veterans from all U.S. military branches by providing free dream flights in one of three fully restored Boeing Stearman biplanes, the same aircraft many military aviators trained in during World War II. AADF’s mission is “Giving back to those who have given.” AADF has given more than 3,000 dream flights since 2011 and depends on sponsorships, grants, and personal and corporate donations to operate the foundation and maintain the three biplanes.
