VFW Wisconsin District 8 Fighting Hunger for 2025 Day of Service

For the first time in Wisconsin Veterans of Foreign Wars history, all VFW Posts and Auxiliaries in the 8th VFW District will host a district-wide "Veterans Against Hunger" initiative. This multi-day, multi-organizational effort will support five small, rural food pantries serving the tight-knit farming communities in southern Brown County, plus the newly created Wild and Free Animal Rescue Group.

COMMUNITY PARTNERS / WHERE TO DONATE FOOD:

• Community First Credit Union Veterans Against Hunger Food Drive at De Pere branch April 14 to May 2, collecting both people and pet non-perishable food items for the final event.
• American Legion Post 436 and Auxiliary in Wrightstown will hold a one-day food drive during its meeting on April 16, contributing directly to the final distribution.
• Kwik Trip Gas Station (De Pere), in partnership with the City of De Pere Police and Fire Departments, will conduct a "Fill the Squad Car Food Drive" on May 1, with vehicles and personnel volunteering their time to support the effort.
• Dick’s Family Foods Grocery Store (Wrightstown), alongside the Village of Wrightstown Police and Fire Departments, will hold their "Fill the Squad Car Food Drive" on May 2, ensuring last-minute donations reach local families.
• Cotter Funeral Home, as the primary event host, will lead the final Veterans Against Hunger Food Drive and celebration.
