5K Race And Walk In Greendale Plans To Help Expand Village's Trails
A race and walk fundraiser scheduled for Aug. 26 is looking to help fund expansions for bicycle and pedestrian trails connecting Greendale.
GREENDALE, WI — A new 5K race and 2-mile walk with the goal of raising funds to expand Greendale's trail system for cyclists and pedestrians is scheduled for Aug. 26 in Greendale.
It's the first fundraiser of its kind from the Greendale Trail Association, which has the goal of helping to pay for a new "Greenbelt Trail" system to enhance safety, expand transportation opportunities and attract cyclists to visit downtown Greendale, according to its website. The new trail would have an overall goal of connecting different points of interest in Greendale with the 135-mile regional Oak Leak Trail system.
The trail association's website shows a map of proposed trail changes and expansions, which includes a shared bike lane down Broad Street, certain sidewalk widenings and a new trail near Dale Creek and Greendale High School.
