2 Sentenced To Prison In Downtown Milwaukee Shooting That Injured 16
After a storm of bullets erupted in downtown Milwaukee last year after a Bucks NBA playoffs game, two men were sentenced to prison.
MILWAUKEE, WI — Nearly a year after a storm of gunfire injured 16 people in downtown Milwaukee after a Bucks NBA playoff game, two men have been sentenced to prison, authorities announced.
The sentencing came down for 26-year-old Marquise Jackson and 21-year-old Alexus Jackson-Milton last week, according to a news release from Attorney General Josh Kaul. Jackson was sentenced to 22 years in Wisconsin prison while Jackson-Milton was sentenced to five years, the news release said.
It was amid a busy scene downtown on May 13, 2022, soon after the Bucks finished a playoff game that attracted thousands, that officers heard gunshots break out near Water and Juneau and hundreds of people running away, according to a criminal complaint.

The criminal complaint against Jackson said an officer found him near the scene of the shooting near a gun under a car. In an interview with one of the people arrested after the shooting, police learned about a "long-standing dispute."
Sixteen people suffered gunshot wounds in the event, according to authorities.

“Milwaukeeans and anyone else attending a Bucks game or any other big event should be able to feel safe,” said Kaul in a news release. “Those who utterly disregard the safety of others face serious consequences.”
Prior to sentencing, Jackson pleaded guilty to several charges including conspiracy to commit aggravated battery, use of a dangerous weapon, and seven counts of first-degree reckless injury, according to Kaul's news release. Jackson-Milton had earlier pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to commit aggravated battery and use of a dangerous weapon, the news release said.
“The hard and diligent work of the Department of Justice Attorney General’s Office and members of the Milwaukee Police Department was vital on bringing these individuals to justice. The Milwaukee Police Department appreciates the tireless effort of everyone involved, especially the investigators of the Criminal Investigation Bureau,” said Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman in the release.
