Council Greenlights Big Expansion Of Super Asian Market

"This project moving forward is great news for the market and for the surrounding area."

MILWAUKEE, WI— In a vote Tuesday, the Common Council approved a zoning change that allows a $20 million expansion and renovation of the 5xen Super Asian Market. The market is located at 6300 N. 76th Street.

The expansion project is set to begin in early 2021, with completion expected in July 2021, according to Alderman Cavalier Johnson, whose 2nd Aldermanic District includes the busy northwest side market location. Johnson explained the Council’s approval of an ordinance changed the zoning from Industrial Light, IL1, to Detailed Planned Development, DPD.

“This project moving forward is great news for the market and for the surrounding area,”
Alderman Johnson said. “The market will greatly improve its visibility, and it will see new amenities while significantly expanding the amount and range of commerce that is taking place there. I am very pleased and excited to see the project move forward.”
