Dates Set For 2024 Republican National Convention In Milwaukee
The Republican National Committee is set to nominate a 2024 presidential candidate in Milwaukee on these days.
MILWAUKEE, WI — The Republican National Committee on Wednesday announced the dates for their convention in Milwaukee where their party will nominate a 2024 presidential candidate.
The Republican National Convention will take place July 15-18, 2024. In a statement, RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said the committee looks forward to continued work with the "beautiful" city of Milwaukee to make the convention a success.
"We are thrilled to welcome the 2024 Republican National Convention to Milwaukee," said Mayor Cavalier Johnson in a news release. "Our city is ready to show the world we are open for business, conventions, and tourism. The presidential nomination convention is a historical opportunity to present what a phenomenal place Milwaukee truly is."

The city's bid for the convention drew criticism from some activist groups in the region. Groups including Voces de la Frontera Action, Milwaukee Area Labor Council and others spoke out in May before the bid was finalized.

In a letter, the groups asserted the Republican Party has become an organization "that supports White Supremacists" as well as the "violent attempted coup at the U.S. Capitol."
Reince Priebus, the Milwaukee 2024 host committee chair, said the location is set and the dates are booked, "and now the work of pulling off the biggest event in politics is underway."
Milwaukee was selected for the convention over Nashville in August. Nashville had rejected a draft agreement to host just days before the decision.
Democrats hosted their 2020 convention in Milwaukee, though the affair was largely virtual in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
