Drug Take Back Is Saturday: Where To Go Around Greater Milwaukee
Here's where you can go in Milwaukee and Waukesha on Saturday to safely dispose of your unused prescription medications at a takeback event.
MILWAUKEE, WI — Saturday is prescription drug take-back day across Wisconsin, posing an opportunity for people to safely get rid of their old, unused medications.
The program's goal is to not only prevent unused medications from being stolen or misused, but to ensure that pharmaceutical substances stay out of our water supplies, according to the Wisconsin Department of Justice, which organizes the wider event.
There are some regulations as to what people can and cannot bring to the events. Officials asked people to not bring illegal drugs, needles or sharps, aerosol cans, biohazards like body fluid or blood, mercury thermometers, household hazardous waste, or things like shampoo and soap.

The program is meant for prescription and over-the-counter medications, ointments, patches, non-aerosol sprays, inhalers, creams, vials and pet medications.
Liquids should be in their original packaging, while solid medications can be put in a bag or directly in the disposal box—though the plastic containers should not be collected.
