Russian Invasion Of Ukraine Continues To Drive Gas Prices Higher In WI
Some pumps in Wisconsin are showing prices over $4 already as markets are roiled by Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

WISCONSIN — Gas prices in some parts of Wisconsin are now $4, according to the American Automobile Association, as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to savage the global oil market.
The average price for a gallon of gas in Milwaukee County was $3.80 on Monday, according to Triple A. Gas prices in the county increased by 32 cents since last week.
The national average is $4.06, which is 52 cents more than a week ago and $1.30 more than a year ago, Triple A said in a statement. Russia's invasion of Ukraine and withholding its oil reserves due to sanctions have roiled the global market, the association added.

California had the highest gas prices of all the U.S. states, with an average of $5.34 for a gallon of gas as of Monday. The Badger State was among states with lower prices, with $3.83 for a gallon of gasoline. That's a 25 cent jump since Friday.
Crude oil from strategic reserves in 31 countries within the International Energy Agency could help counter the effects of rising prices, Triple A said. This is the largest coordinated release from reserves since 1974 and half of the oil is expected to come from the U.S.

The agency said Russia's crude oil exports make up 12 percent of its global trade, Triple A said. Fighting with Ukraine has exacerbated the cost of oil since Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war.
"As the conflict continues, the oil markets will likely respond by increasing the price of crude oil to reflect more risk of disruption to tight global oil supplies this week," the association said.
Rhode Island was the hit the hardest by price hikes, gas prices jumping 52 cents since last week. Meanwhile in Wisconsin, Florence County had the highest gallon prices as of Monday, with $4.17 at the pump.
