Gun Goes Off Amid Fist Fight That Broke Out In Cudahy: Police

Police said a man carrying a handgun was briefly hospitalized after a fight Tuesday evening in Cudahy.

CUDAHY, WI — A fight that broke out in Cudahy Tuesday evening near Pulaski and Kirkwood Avenues ended with a gunshot going off and a man being injured, police said.

Police responded to Edgerton Avenue near Kirkwood around 8:13 p.m. where they detained multiple people in the area of the fight, according to a news release. Police found one of the men, a 21-year-old who was concealed carrying a handgun, with injuries to his face, back and ribs, the news release said.

Police said their investigation found a 19-year-old and a 21-year-old got into a fistfight. The two exchanged words, and when the 21-year-old was approached by the younger man, he racked his gun and the fight ensued, police said.

The man shot off his gun into an unknown direction amid the fight, police said. First responders later took him to St. Luke's South Shore Hospital for evaluation after he was injured in the fight, police said.

Police said they are referring charges of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and carrying a concealed weapon to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office. Police also asked anyone with information to call them at 414-769-2260.
