Indoor Golf Driving Range Added To List Of Facilities For Ballpark Commons Project

The addition of a high-tech golf driving range was announced Monday as part of the Ballpark Commons development in Franklin.

MILWAUKEE, WI — The developer of The Rock Sports Complex gave Franklin officials an update on the Ballpark Commons development Monday.

Primarily a park for minor-league baseball, Ballpark Commons has evolved into a true mixed-use facility. Developer Mike Zimmerman told Franklin officials that he is working with retailers for the property in addition to a golf center operator and a health care provider, reports the Milwaukee Business Journal.

Apartment living and a 100-room hotel are also part of the plans for Ballpark Commons.

One of the proposed new features is what Zimmerman calls a “new generation” golf driving range. This style of driving range offers suites available for group rental in a three-story building overlooking a 215-yard driving range. The range includes high-tech amenities such as a Doppler radar system to track golf drives, a climate-controlled environment inside the suites along with food and drink services.

“This particular product, we estimate will generate somewhere from 150,000 to 200,000 people a year,” Zimmerman told the Milwaukee Business Journal.

Construction is expected to begin this summer for phase one with the first baseball games happening at the park in May 2018.
