MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee was not only the drunkest city in 2022 among America's 50 most populous metros, but it was also among the best for coffee, raising a family, getting brunch and more, according to studies by Clever Real Estate.

The real estate company recently rounded up its numerous studies throughout 2022, and Milwaukee was among the best in several, earning it a ranking of No. 6 overall. To find its overall ranking, Clever found the normalized average scores for 22 of its studies from cities across the country this year.

One study that may be unsurprising: What made Milwaukee famous is still keeping it plenty drunk. Cream City ranked as the No. 1 drunkest city in America in Clever's study. Milwaukee earned the designation after Clever said it analyzed a normalized score based on adult binge drinking, the number of bars per residents, Google trends related to drinking, the number of breweries and wine bars, and more.

Breakfast lovers across Milwaukee can also rejoice at Clever's rankings on brunch and coffee.

The company said Cream City ranked at No. 1 for coffee and No. 5 in the best brunch cities.

For its study on brunch, Clever used google search activity, the number of brunch restaurants per resident, combined grocery prices of five popular breakfast items, plus affordability based on local incomes.

When it came to the coffee study, Milwaukee was among only five cities where it would cost less than $1000 per year to enjoy a cup of joe every day. Milwaukee even outpaced Portland and San Francisco for coffee in the list. For the study Clever used data on cappuccino prices, coffee shops per capita and square mile, Google search trends, how much locals are willing to spend and more.
