Milwaukee Lags State, Nation in Census Completion
The extended deadline to respond to the 2020 Census is October 31.
MILWAUKEE, WI— The Mayor of Milwaukee is calling on residents to fill out the census. Currently the city lags behind both the state and national average of completed records.
Milwaukee’s self-response rate is 60.7%. The national average is 66.6%. Wisconsin’s rate of 71.8%, according Mayor Tom Barrett.
The extended deadline to respond to the 2020 Census is October 31. Households can respond to the 2020 Census online at 2020census.gov or by phone at 1-844-330-2020.
"The 2020 Census is one of the most important civil rights issues of our day. Based on census data collected every ten years, the federal government distributes $675 billion to local communities each year for health, education, housing and more," Mayor Barrett wrote via Facebook. "Every adult and child has the constitutional right to be counted, and the investment is well worth the time for our families and community."
