Milwaukee Opens Red Arrow Park For Roller Skating In Warmer Months
Milwaukee's downtown ice skating rink is now also home to a roller skating rink in the warmer months, a county news release said.
MILWAUKEE, WI — The ice skating rink at Red Arrow Park in downtown Milwaukee will soon be hosting roller skaters during its off-season as part of a pilot program.
A proposal in June 2022 initially allocated $175,000 for the pilot program. However, that was vetoed and amended to provide $32,000 for seasonal staff to supervise the roller skating, according to a news release from Milwaukee County Supervisor Marcelia Nicholson.
With the pilot, the roller skating rink will be open during warmer months with much anticipation, the news release said. The organization Roll Train worked in part to open the rink to roller skaters in the summer. The group plans to host an event series called Summer Spinz with DJ sets and food trucks every third Friday in June, July and August while people roller skate.

"I am immensely proud of Roll Train's accomplishments and the collaborative efforts made bythe Milwaukee County Parks Department,” said Nicholson in the release. “Roller skating provides a wonderful recreational opportunity for our community, promoting physical activity, positive engagement, and togetherness. This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and support of all those involved.”
The roller rink is open weekdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and weekends 9 a.m.-5 p.m., the city's website said. Skate rentals are not available except for youth-sized skates during the June Summer Spinz event.
