Mother Accused In Shooting Death Of 2-Year-Old Daughter
A 22-year-old Milwaukee mother has been charged after police say she was handing her gun when it went off and killed her daughter.
MILWAUKEE, WI — A 22-year-old Milwaukee mother is accused of shooting and killing her 2-year-old daughter, and now faces a criminal charge.
Jasmine C. Daniels has been charged with first-degree reckless homicide, and is currently being held in the Milwaukee County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond according to court records.
A criminal complaint filed in Milwaukee County claims that Daniels was in the basement of her Milwaukee home Tuesday in the 6600 block of N. 105th Street when she racked the slide of her gun, and the gun went off.

Authorities said they were sent to Daniels' home just after 7 p.m. upon learning of the shooting. When they arrived, they reported rendering emergency aid to the daughter. She was pronounced dead as emergency workers were transporting her to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, the criminal complaint stated.
Investigators said the bullet went through her 2-year-old daughter's arm and chest, damaging the child's aorta and both lungs.

According to Milwaukee police, Daniels told them several stories about how the shooting incident unfolded. According to the complaint, Daniels eventually broke down crying, and admitted to handling her gun in the basement when the gun went off and shot her daughter.
"I accidentally did it," she said to police investigators, according to the criminal complaint.
