Police Shot, Killed Armed Man Outside VA Medical Center: Cops

VA officials say the man was rushed to the Emergency Department at the facility where he later died from gunshot wounds.

MILWAUKEE, WI — A man was killed by VA Police after he tried walking into the Zablocki Veterans Administration Medical Center armed with a gun Monday night, authorities said.

According to a statement released by VA Center officials late Monday, the man was stopped by a department police officer outside the medical center's east entrance around 8:40 p.m.

VA officials said police ordered the man to drop the shotgun he was carrying, but he did not follow instructions.

Authorities said the man threatened police with the shotgun. Police fired multiple shots at the man, striking him several times, according to VA Center officials.

VA officials say the man was rushed to the Emergency Department at the facility where he later died from the gunshot wounds.

According to VA Center officials, there's no longer any threat to Veterans and staff at the center, and nobody else was injured.

Police said they did not have any further updates late Monday.
