MILWAUKEE, WI — The Milwaukee County Zoo announced on Thursday that visitors can enter the zoo for free during the day for the last week of December, and the zoo said it has added several new animals in time for the frosty weather.

People can enter the zoo for free from Dec. 27 to Dec. 31 as a "thank you" to visitors for their support throughout 2021, the zoo said in a statement. Zoo hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays and 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekends.

Two new cheetah sisters, Minnie and Mila, are settling in their new habitat and were brought in from the Caldwell Zoo in Texas, the zoo said. Both cats like going close to the viewing glass.

The free week doesn't apply to the Zoo's Wild Lights event that runs throughout December. The zoo will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 2022.
