Snow, Cold Expected In Southeast WI For New Year's Weekend
Chances for freezing drizzle are in store Thursday, while forecasters say accumulating snow and blustery winds are expected Saturday.
MILWAUKEE, WI — A chance of freezing drizzle and flurries are expected in the Milwaukee area Thursday, while the National Weather Service said it expects blowing snow and gusty winds on New Year's Day.
A hazardous weather outlook was issued to Washington, Ozaukee, Waukesha, Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha counties for the chance of freezing drizzle on Thursday afternoon, for expected accumulating snow on Saturday and for wind chills around 20 degrees below zero possible Sunday morning.
Drivers should be aware of conditions like patchy fog, freezing drizzle and slick spots on untreated roads Thursday, forecasters said in a statement. The heaviest snow is expected Saturday afternoon in far southeast Wisconsin.

Thursday will have a chance of flurries before 5 p.m. and a high near 34, forecasters said. The day will be mostly cloudy with light winds.
Patchy fog is expected before 9 a.m. on Friday, but the rest of the day will be mostly cloudy with a high near 37. There will be a 20 percent chance of snow after 1 a.m.

Saturday will likely have snow after 1 p.m., with patchy blowing snow after 3 p.m. Forecasters said they expect a high near 26 and winds up to 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.

Friday: Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.
Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Light north wind increasing to 10 to 15 mph in the evening.
Saturday: Snow likely, mainly after 1 p.m. Patchy blowing snow after 3 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 26. Blustery, with a north wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Saturday Night: Snow, mainly before 1 a.m. Patchy blowing snow before 5 a.m. Low around 10. Blustery, with a north wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Sunday: A 50 percent chance of snow before 7 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 14. Blustery, with a northwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
