Some More Snow In WI As Frigid Wind Chills Last Into Weekend: NWS
Wisconsin can expect negative wind chills to last into the weekend, National Weather Service forecasters said. Friday could bring more snow.
WISCONSIN — Although National Weather Service forecasters say southeastern Wisconsin likely got the bulk of the latest winter storm's snowfall by Thursday night, a storm warning remains in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday with frigid wind gusts expected to drive wind chill down to -40.
Wind gusts of up to 50 mph will drive the bitter temps, the NWS said. Areas with blowing and drifting snow may have reduced visibility, especially in eastern Wisconsin on Friday afternoon when light snow may develop again.
Another inch of snow or less could accumulate into Friday evening, with the highest amounts toward Sheboygan and Fond du Lac, the NWS said. Blowing snow could make travel difficult in east central and southeast Wisconsin, impacting commutes through Friday, the NWS said.

The wind chill is set to last into the holiday weekend, the NWS said. Wind chills around -20 to -30 are forecast for Saturday and Sunday mornings across southern Wisconsin, the agency said.

Wind chills as low as 35 below could cause frostbite to exposed skin in just 10 minutes. Forecasters advised travelers to keep a flashlight, food and water in their vehicle in case of an emergency.
Predictions for the snowfall up until Thursday ranged from 2 inches to much higher. But what happened to the higher end of the forecasts? In a tweet Friday morning, National Weather Service forecasters in Wisconsin said the main reason was how the low-pressure system tracked and deepened.
We've been getting questions about 'what happened to all that snow?'. The main reason is due to where the low pressure system tracked and deepened. Earlier this week, it looked like the low would be deepening just to our south. Now, it's doing that in Quebec. (1/3) #wiwx pic.twitter.com/29mnt6OFlX
