MILWAUKEE, WI — An unborn baby was killed after a pregnant woman was shot in Milwaukee on Thursday, the Milwaukee Police Department announced.

A 26-year-old Milwaukee woman suffered from life-threatening gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital, police said. The shooting happened near N. 66th Street and W. Marion Street around 5:44 a.m.

The unborn child succumbed to injuries after the shooting, police said. Milwaukee police are investigating, but haven't identified a suspect.
