Wind Chill Could Bring Below Zero Temps To Wisconsin Next Week: NWS
Below-zero wind chills are possible in Wisconsin next week, especially on Tuesday and Thursday around Milwaukee, national forecasters said.
WISCONSIN — Some continued snow into the weekend could give rise to below-zero wind chills in much of Wisconsin and the greater Milwaukee area next week, according to the National Weather Service.
The below-zero wind chills are possible especially from Tuesday into Thursday, the NWS said. Impacted areas could include Waukesha and Milwaukee counties and much of southeast and south central Wisconsin. In parts of Wisconsin further west and north, the wind chills could be much more bitter, according to the NWS.
The cold temps might just extend into Christmas Eve and Christmas, the NWS Milwaukee/Sullivan station said on Twitter, posing a possibility of the coldest Christmas since around 2000 — though there is still uncertainty out that far, the agency said. On the bright side, the southeastern Wisconsin NWS station said a few more chances for snow next week and well-below freezing temps may boost the chance for a white Christmas.

The blast of cold is headed into North America all the way from Siberia, according to an AccuWeather report, which forecast that the eastern two-thirds of the U.S. will see a deep freeze leading up to Christmas. The cold might just confront records in some parts of the country that have held since the 1980s, AccuWeather said.

The brunt of the cold will first be felt in the Dakotas and northern plains. It will then push into the Upper Midwest and the northern Rockies driving low temperatures but not quite to record levels, the Accuweather report said.
