​Up to 6 inches of snow is now possible across parts of southeast Wisconsin on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

MILWAUKEE — Various winter weather alerts are being sent out across the region ahead of Thursday's snowstorm, including an advisory issued for the counties of Washington, Ozaukee, Waukesha, and Milwaukee.

Here are the key details to know from the NWS:

WHAT: Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 6 inches, with the highest amounts north of I-94 and toward Lake Michigan.

The highest rates are expected Thursday afternoon ninto Thursday evening, with lake-effect snow showers Friday morningprovide an additional chance for higher rates.

Wednesday Night: A chance of flurries before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable in the evening.

Thursday: Snow, mainly after 9am. High near 31. Light southeast wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Thursday Night: Snow. Low around 27. South wind 5 to 15 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Friday: Snow likely, mainly before noon. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 32. North wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
