MCTS To Suspend South Shore Freeway Flyer Routes Until March
Starting Jan. 10, eight freeway flyer routes across Milwaukee County will be suspended until March. Here's how Oak Creek will be affected.

OAK CREEK, WI — Driver shortages are prompting a temporary service suspension for Milwaukee County Transit System Freeway Flyer bus routes that travel between the Oak Creek area and downtown Milwaukee, MCTS announced Wednesday.
Freeway Flyer routes 40, 43, 44, 46, 48, 49, 79, and 143 will be suspended starting Jan. 10 until March 6. The routes primarily operate on weekdays between park and ride lots such as the one on College Avenue in Milwaukee near Mitchell International Airport. While the faster freeway flyers will be suspended, riders will still be able to park and take regular, local route service from park and rides, MCTS said in a news release.
The Freeway Flyers typically connect outlying Milwaukee County community's park and rides to stops in downtown Milwaukee via area freeways.

"We’re on track to hire the drivers we need to bring the Freeway Flyers back in early March," said MCTS Marketing and Communications Director Kristina Hoffman in a news release. "We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the changes in service and encourage Freeway Flyer passengers to ride the regular bus service until the Flyers return on March 7th."
MCTS said it is offering a $1000 bonus for new drivers to address the shortage.
