Residents Wake Up To Intruder in Bedroom

An Oak Creek couple woke up to an intruder in their bedroom early Friday morning, which led to the arrest of a 17-year-old boy in a marshy area near Puetz Road.

According to an report:

A 30-year-old man woke up just after midnight when an unknown person grabbed his leg. The man started screaming and locked the bedroom door while his wife called 911. The boy fled the house.

As police cleared the residence, an officer saw the boy running south of the home. Police set up a perimeter in the residents' neighborhood, near 27th Street and Puetz Road.

A police K-9 picked up a scent north of Puetz Road. Officers then found the boy in a marshy area about 20 feet away from the road and commanded him to give up or be apprehended by the K-9. The boy was taken into custody without incident.

The 17-year-old told police he thought he was in a friend's house, saying he got turned around. He said it didn't feel right, and ran from police because he got scared.

He was barefoot when police arrested him; his shoes were found on the residents' dryer.

Police cited him for underage drinking and are seeking state charges of criminal trespassing, resisting/obstructing officers and criminal damage.

Nothing was stolen from the home. A kitchen window was broken in the incident, with damage estimated at $50.
