Woman Seriously Hurt, Arrested After Crash

A 50-year-old Milwaukee woman was ejected from her vehicle in a crash on W. Puetz Road Monday afternoon and later arrested for drunken driving.

According to an report, the woman was eastbound in the 1100 block of W. Puetz Road when she went off the roadway about 1:50 p.m.

Her vehicle continued at least 100 feet into a ditch and through a yard. The front end of the vehicle got caught in the ditch, flipped over and hit a mailbox, according to the report. The vehicle then flipped again and came to rest in a front lawn.

The woman was ejected through the back windshield, according to the report. She was conscious and breathing when authorities arrived, but sustained injuries to her neck and suffered broken ribs and a collapsed lung.

Oak Creek paramedics took her by ambulance to Froedtert Hospital, with Flight for Life unavailable due to the weather. 

Officers found she was intoxicated and arrested her, according to the police report. Police say she refused to submit to a blood draw.

Her vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.

Yards on W. Puetz Road were torn up and also suffered damage.
