2 Charged In Connection With Waukesha Drive-By Shooting

WAUKESHA, WI — Two people face charges in connection with a drive-by shooting early Sunday in Waukesha.

According to the criminal complaint, a bar fight broke out between two groups of people shortly before the shooting. Waukesha Police Capt. Dan Baumann told Patch that after the fight, one of the groups retaliated against the other by shooting at a house where they believed opposing group members lived.

A resident called police after finding bullet holes located outside and inside a home in the 100 block of South Grandview Boulevard, Baumann said.

Juan Rodriguez, 20, on Thursday was charged with five felony counts of first degree recklessly endangering safety.

Other charges include:

• one felony count of discharging a firearm from a vehicle-towards a building or car.
• one misdemeanor count of carrying a concealed weapon.
• one misdemeanor count of carry a handgun where alcohol is sold and consumed.
• one misdemeanor count of possession of cocaine.
• one misdemeanor count of possession of THC.

Rodriguez's cash bond was set for $500,000 and his next court date is Feb. 21.

Gerardo Diaz Palma, 21, was also charged Thursday with is facing five felony charges of first-degree recklessly endangering safety- PTAC, as a party to a crime and use of a dangerous weapon. He also faces one felony count of discharging a firearm from a car-towards a building or vehicle-PTAC, as a party to a crime, online records said.

His cash bond was set for $100,000 and his next court date is Feb. 21.

Officers questioned nearby residents and asked them to check their home cameras.

Neighbors told police they heard what sounded like several gunshots at 2:30 a.m. A resident reported hearing four to five pops of gunfire and noticed a light-colored car with loud exhaust slowing or stopping in front of the house, the police log said.
