1. Trio from Chile accused in multi-state burglary spree (gmtoday.com) — Waukesha County authorities have charged three men from Chile with burglary and possession of burglarious tools after a months-long investigation into a multi-state burglary pattern that included Waukesha-area homes. Investigators used phone data, license-plate cameras, and traffic stops from Florida to Minnesota to track the suspects. The men are jailed on high cash bonds and immigration holds.
   

2. Push for more green and gold snowplow lights in Wisconsin (spectrumnews1.com) — A deadly crash with a snowplow on I‑94 in Waukesha County is prompting renewed calls for drivers to slow down and give plows more space. State and county officials say most Wisconsin plows now use bright green and amber lights, but some counties still face cost hurdles upgrading older trucks, keeping winter road safety in sharp focus for local drivers.
   

3. Holiday Giving Tree results in 410 gifts for those in need (marquette.edu) — A Marquette University Holiday Giving Tree effort helped local neighbors this season, including clients of Catholic Charities Waukesha. With 207 campus participants, the drive produced a record 410 gifts shared among five Milwaukee-area agencies, extending extra support and holiday cheer to families and individuals who might otherwise go without.
   

4. UWM professor is fighting superbugs in Milwaukee and around the world (uwm.edu) — A Milwaukee-based UWM researcher is tracking how drug‑resistant bacteria move through treated wastewater, including flows tied to Waukesha’s new Lake Michigan drinking water diversion. His team’s work, backed by major federal grants, could influence how local beaches, rivers, and even future irrigation water are kept safer from dangerous superbugs. The same lab also explores light‑based treatments that may reduce reliance on antibiotics.
