The Johnson Summer Classic is one of the longest running events of KJF. Kelly shows her enthusiasm for the tournament, saying, “For 11 years, we've made quite the impact both on and off the court! It's more than just hosting a tennis event. Here's to another year serving the community and providing opportunities for participants, spectators, and supporters to get involved with the Kelly Johnson Foundation”.
The Kelly Johnson Foundation is proud to announce its sponsors for the event including Paleovalley, which is donating snacks for the players, and Ball Sponsor Wilson.
The nonprofit is thrilled to continue its partnerships with Recycleballs, where people can recycle tennis balls after the tournament. KJF is also partnering with Second Serve, another nonprofit that donates gently used tennis gear to youth tennis players in need. There will be a box on-site to collect donations.
The second event of the weekend is a new one for KJF - the 1st Annual Adopt-A-Highway Clean Up, to take place Friday July 19th from 10:00am - 2:00pm PDT at S East Ave, Waukesha, WI.
KJF owns a section of the S East Ave highway and has launched an initiative to keep it clean, aiming to promote an eco-conscious lifestyle and preserve the surrounding environment. This is welcome to all volunteers who like to lend a helping hand while making a difference in the local community.
Kelly is passionate about this fresh prospect, saying, “We are excited to offer a new volunteer opportunity for 2024! Join us as we pave the way for a cleaner, greener tomorrow. Volunteering at our first Wisconsin event helps us expand our community outreach and highlight our work that we do in the surrounding area”.
The sponsor of this event is Barrie House Coffee, who will be donating coffee products to the volunteers. More sponsors possibly to come.
Trash bags, safety yellow volunteer vests, plastic gloves, and snacks will be provided for all volunteers. Volunteers may choose between two 2-hour shifts.
