On Sunday afternoon, April 21, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 the Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist church will be hosting a Rice Meal Packing event.
These ready to cook (just add water) meals are sent to war torn areas and disaster zones around the world and in our own country. We intend to pack 1,200 meal bags, each serving 6 persons.
This event is facilitated through the Midwest Mission Center. In 2022, 198,180 Rice Meals were shipped around the world, feeding 1,189,080 people. Since the invasion in 2022, Midwest Mission has sent over 275,000 Rice Meal Bags, feeding over 1.6 million people in and around Ukraine.
Our congregation is paying all costs associated with this project, but we need teams of from 8 to 10 people to help assemble the kits. The Midwest Mission Center, which distributes these meal kits, provides all the ingredients and equipment needed. What we need are people who can work to assemble these meal kits. It is possible to remain seated to help assemble the kits. Older children are able to help. All workers are required to wear hair nets (and beard nets for those with beards).
